Roof & Gutter Cables prevent water damage caused by snow and ice buildup. Once again, working in conjunction with Underwriters Laboratories (UL), Wrap-On was granted the industry’s first listing for the newly created category, “Roof and Gutter De-icing Cable for Metal or Plastic/Vinyl Gutters and Downspouts.”

The Roof and Gutter cables work in conjunction with natural sunlight and a building’s own heat dissipation. When natural thawing occurs, the cables create a channel that allows water to flow off the roof and through gutters and downspouts. Easy to operate, they simply plug in for years of trouble-free operation.

The Wrap-On® Company has been manufacturing electric pipe heating cables, roof & gutter cables and a variety of other winterization products for more than fifty seven years. Wrap-On introduced the first pipe heating cable to the market in the early 1940’s. Other products such as roof & gutter cables and pipe insulation soon followed. In the years since, we have continually improved and updated our products to meet the changing needs of our customers.

Wrap-On Roof and Gutter Cables are the ideal preventative maintenance for snow and ice buildup. They create channels on the roof, in the gutter and in the downspout that allow melting ice and snow to flow freely, eliminating ice dams and Greenucing icicle formation. They can be used safely on all metal, plastic and vinyl gutters and downspouts and are UL listed and CSA certified. Packaging includes detailed instructions and all necessary hardware.

Even in below freezing weather, snow on the roof will often thaw because of heat from the sun and heat loss from the house through the roof. As this melted snow reaches the roof overhang it refreezes. Here there is no heat loss so the roof surface is much colder. As this melted snow refreezes again and again on the roof overhang, an ice dam is formed. Soon water backs up under shingles, and leaks into the house. It’s not those big icicles that do the real damage, it’s the ice you don’t see that backs up in gutters and under shingles. When the ice melts it can really do a number on repair costs. Roof de-icing cable prevents this water and ice damage by providing a clear path for melting water to flow off the roof. It keeps roof edges, gutters and downspouts ice-free. Versatile design adapts to most roof and gutter configurations. This product is intended for the sole use of preventing ice dams from forming on inclined roofs with tab shingles, in gutters and downspouts. This roof de-icing cable is not intended for use as a snow melting system to clear roof of ice and snow.

Cable Installation Patterns (One cable may cover both roof and gutter areas, or separate cables can be used.)

This pre-assembled cable has been designed for the sole purpose of preventing the formation of ice dams on pitched roofs with non-combustible tab shingles and in metal or plastic gutters and downspouts. It provides drainage channels so that as natural thawing occurs, water has a path to flow off the roof and through the gutters and downspouts. This cable is not for use on a flat roof nor is it intended to clear the roof of snow and ice.

Roof Deicing Designed for Asphalt Roof Shingles

Calorique’s PerfectlyClear Roof Deicing is the most advanced ice dam prevention solution on the market today. Our unique heating panels feature a thin profile. When installed, they are completely concealed underneath the asphalt shingle. The roof deicing heating panels are available in various standard lengths to provide for any configuration.

The modular design allows the roofing contractor to easily plug heating panels together positioning them in and around problem areas. The panels are easily installed as a “Retro Fit” under existing shingles, or at New Shingle Installation. Our roof deicing products provide ice dam prevention for valleys too.

Installation is easy – By removing the underside release liner and firmly pressing down, the heating panel locks securely in place. Removing the top release liner strip, seals the panel to the next course of shingles.

Simple, fast and easy ! PerfectlyClear Roof Deicing combined with PerfectlyClear Gutter and Downspout Heat Ribbons plus an optional automated controller/snow sensor, protects buildings against dangerous ice build-up – safely and efficiently.

New Product – Danfoss RX-C Roof Clip (50pcs in Bag)

Danfoss has introduced a roof clip that is the same as the other manufacturers:

http://www.morelectricheating.com/products/MANUFACTURERS/DANFOSS/RX-C%20ROOF%20CLIP.aspx

They have a real nice installation guide it is linked below. It says DO NOT NAIL OR SCREW TO YOUR ROOF! They say to only use adhesive and to consult roofing supplier for recommended adhesives and specifically mention  asphalt shingles.

Constant Wattage Roof and Gutter De-Icing Cable

Many people are looking for the most inexpensive and easiest to install heating cable for their roof which is what is called constant wattage roof cable. It is a smaller cable that can be use with shingle piercing roof clips as opposed to self-regulating cable which requires clips that are glued and/or nailed and screwed down. There are six manufacturers of constant wattage cable and we sell four of them. EasyHeat makes ADKS,  Wrap-on makes their grey and black cables, King Electric makes their CWR and Danfoss makes their RX-C cables. There are also a couple of other brands we do not sell called Frost King and M-D Building Products which are similar.

EasyHeat ADKS Substitutes (Constant Wattage Roof & Gutter Deicing Cable)

Mor Electric Heating is one the largest distributors in the USA of Roof & Gutter Heating Cable. We spend alot of time procuring constant wattage cable because it is one of our highest volume products. The Danfoss and Wrap-On brands have long been a fallback as EasyHeat ADKS gets hard to acquire by late Fall (currently it is the 80, 160, 200 and 240 foot lengths). Nearly every year the high demand causes EasyHeat to run out and we have recorded lead times as long as 13 weeks 5 years ago and again this year. The problem with the Danfoss brand has been their slightly different lengths (except for a few sizes such as the 80 foot length) and with the Wrap-On brand it has been the  grey color instead of black.

Now for the first season we have an exact substitute in King Electric and Wrap-On has released a black color, however Wrap-On (and Danfoss) come with a different shingle clip that has a larger tooth that pierces completely through the shingle, see below:

BriskHeat HOT SHOTS – #008 Roof & Gutter De-Icing Kit Success!

HOT SHOT #008 BriskHeat Roof & Gutter De-Icing Kits!

Winter is upon us and many businesses and homes will be facing challenges relating to snow and ice on their premises.  A commonly overlooked and misunderstood winter hazard is the formation of ICE DAMS on rooftops.  After reading this, we’re sure those innocent looking icicles won’t be so innocent anymore.

What is an Ice Dam?

Ice Dams form due to the inherent temperature differences between heated spaces and roof overhangs. Naturally, some heat loss occurs through a homes attic. As it passes through the attic space it warms the roof [1].  Snow-melt then runs under the insulating blanket of snow, until it reaches a cold section of the roof and freezes to form an ice dam [2].  Snow that melts later cannot drain properly and is trapped on the roof [3]. Standing water can then enter a home or business causing significant property damage [4].

Icicles on overhangs and gutters are natures way of hinting that there might be a problem on the roof.  When icicles or even an ice dam breaks free, it can cause significant harm to customers and employees, vehicles, landscaping, etc., furthermore, dripping ice causes slippery walkways leading to possible injuries.

Weight of the ice can even pull gutters away from the roof, exposing the wood fascia to even more damage and dripping water hazards.

BriskHeat Partners across the nation are turning these hazards into opportunities to sell BriskHeat’s SpeedTrace Roof & Gutter De-Icing Kits.  These kits are designed to prevent ice and snow build-up on rooftops by using an electric self-regulating heating cable system. The heating cable melts away excessive snow and ice from the roof, gutters, and downspouts to ensure safe and proper draining.

The kits are easy-to-install and come complete with a plug-in ready self-regulating heating cable (with 3-prong plug), aluminum roof clips, and UV resistant cable ties for installation.  Available in your choice of 50, 75, 100, 125, and 150ft lengths to fit your needs.

SpeedTrace self-regulating heating cables are heavy duty professional grade heating cables. They out perform the less expensive big-box store products.  Safe for commercial and residential applications.

It’s not too late to introduce this product to maintenance crews and other customers.  Show them how they can protect their homes, businesses, and the people around them with a SpeedTrace Roof & Gutter De-Icing system.
