Roof & Gutter Cables prevent water damage caused by snow and ice buildup. Once again, working in conjunction with Underwriters Laboratories (UL), Wrap-On was granted the industry’s first listing for the newly created category, “Roof and Gutter De-icing Cable for Metal or Plastic/Vinyl Gutters and Downspouts.” The Roof and Gutter cables work in conjunction with natural sunlight and a building’s own heat dissipation. When natural thawing occurs, the cables create a channel that allows water to flow off the roof and through gutters and downspouts. Easy to operate, they simply plug in for years of trouble-free operation. The Wrap-On® Company has been manufacturing electric pipe heating cables, roof & gutter cables and a variety of other winterization products for more than fifty seven years. Wrap-On introduced the first pipe heating cable to the market in the early 1940’s. Other products such as roof & gutter cables and pipe insulation soon followed. In the years since, we have continually improved and updated our products to meet the changing needs of our customers. Wrap-On Roof and Gutter Cables are the ideal preventative maintenance for snow and ice buildup. They create channels on the roof, in the gutter and in the downspout that allow melting ice and snow to flow freely, eliminating ice dams and reducing icicle formation. They can be used safely on all metal, plastic and vinyl gutters and downspouts and are UL listed and CSA certified. Packaging includes detailed instructions and all necessary hardware. Even in below freezing weather, snow on the roof will often thaw because of heat from the sun and heat loss from the house through the roof. As this melted snow reaches the roof overhang it refreezes. Here there is no heat loss so the roof surface is much colder. As this melted snow refreezes again and again on the roof overhang, an ice dam is formed. Soon water backs up under shingles, and leaks into the house. It’s not those big icicles that do the real damage, it’s the ice you don’t see that backs up in gutters and under shingles. When the ice melts it can really do a number on repair costs. Roof de-icing cable prevents this water and ice damage by providing a clear path for melting water to flow off the roof. It keeps roof edges, gutters and downspouts ice-free. Versatile design adapts to most roof and gutter configurations. This product is intended for the sole use of preventing ice dams from forming on inclined roofs with tab shingles, in gutters and downspouts. This roof de-icing cable is not intended for use as a snow melting system to clear roof of ice and snow. Cable Installation Patterns (One cable may cover both roof and gutter areas, or separate cables can be used.) This pre-assembled cable has been designed for the sole purpose of preventing the formation of ice dams on pitched roofs with non-combustible tab shingles and in metal or plastic gutters and downspouts. It provides drainage channels so that as natural thawing occurs, water has a path to flow off the roof and through the gutters and downspouts. This cable is not for use on a flat roof nor is it intended to clear the roof of snow and ice. |
